My name is Maija Hopeavuori-Patjas and as artist I use the name Maija Hopeavuori. I graduated from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts as Master of Fine Arts in 2009. I live and work in Helsinki.

Painting on large canvases used to be my favourite thing to do. But after becoming allergic to acrylics, I've been making paper sculptures and aquarelle collages. I like to build stuff: images, collages, installations... Details should serve the whole and if one squints their eyes that may be true.

My colours are joyful and bright, almost radical but well-matched. I believe exact planning and chance make the best result, or I would if I believed in chance. I’ve always found my inspiration from the vast geometric diversity, organic or abstract. In nature accidences have evolved and become something more than accidences.

At the moment I have also taken part in new and exciting challenges involving Game Design and it is interesting to see what will happen there.
